So i have been to the port medway store many times under its previous ownership, on my way to visit my friend on Great Island (accessed by boat from port medway). I’ve stayed in a garage around the corner from the store and friends have stayed in the apartment above the store too. Loved that place. Are the new owners operating the post office too or did it close?
The Cut has sucked for much longer than that, I miss when it used to be about fashion and was actually more like a blog back in the late 00s-early 2010s. Kept checking in for Cathy Horyn's show reviews and Emilia Petrarca's pieces but now the latter has left and the whole thing is just clickbait and shopping lists (affiliate linked).
Also headscarves are underrated! The Ienki Ienki one has extra dimension because of the puffiness, which really works for this particular way of wearing it and also adds to the eccentric old lady aspect of it. I think part of the enduring appeal of Grey Gardens style is that it's so personal, sure it was 1975 but it's like Little Edie's look is almost removed from that time and stands on its own - it's technically a 1970s look but doesn't really fit within the usual tropes of that style.
