This is a fantastic article and calls attention to the reality of todays fashion sector which is happy to reap the rewards of its perception as “avant garde” and edgy without actually doing the work to back up those credentials. I hope that substack/patreon culture might provide a space for individuals to support and nurture smaller brands and design projects to create and disseminate their ideas and artistic/fashion outputs but it seems a shame that this should fall on the citizen as opposed to being (at least in part) state subsidised.
