If you’re the kind of person who can appreciate a hand-carved Bowie knife with a handle shaped like a whale, walking into a [REDACTED] is like being enveloped by a tiny slice of heaven. In one corner, ancient-looking calipers that look like they might have belonged to Galileo mingle next to dowels for performing intricate leatherwork. In another, gleaming stainless steel pasta-making machines sit alongside something called a "pastry compass." Then in another, perhaps more timid corner, there are clothes. This is where I found a pair of deeply charming rain boots that almost everyone I know mistakes for Celine.
